For the 2013-2014 school year, we were able to raise $90,573 for St. Jude! We couldn't have done without the Rhodes and Memphis community!! Thank you to everyone who participated and donated in our events!
As of the 2011-2012 academic year, our chapter has our Rhodes College banner hanging proudly on the Tri Delta Patient Care floor at St. Jude, being the top fundraising chapter in our group for raising over $100,000! The Rhodes College chapter of Tri Delta consistently ranks as one of the top fundraising groups in the country and we strive to maintain this goal. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments and we hope to surpass this in future years to help St. Jude and its patients. We are also proud to have one of our former philanthropy chairs named Top Philanthropy Chairman for the Silver Group in the 2011-2012 academic year!
Throughout the school year, our chapter hosts various philanthropy events in order to raise awareness and donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Here are some examples of our philanthropy events:
In the spring semester, we host "Delta Days", a 3-day fundraising effort for St. Jude. This 3-day event usually consists of a shopping event where a portion of proceeds from sales goes to St. Jude, a game day and a big fundraising event called Bids for Kids, a live auction where students can bid on items provided by students & local Memphis stores!
TriHop is an event that takes every year in the fall semester. Students can buy tickets in advance or at the door and enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes made by the ladies of Tri Delta. Every year, we also have performances by campus acapella groups, the Woolsocks & Lipstick on Your Collar while attendees can also hear from a patient speaker!
Sincerely Yours Letter Writing
Letter Writing is one of our biggest fundraising efforts. All of our members write letters to friends & families in order to raise money for St. Jude. Every year, the total amount of money raised just from Letter Writing is a huge surprise!
Fat Talk Free Week
Fat Talk Free Week is an international 5-day public awareness effort to draw attention to body image issues and the damaging impact of the thin ideal on women in society. Fat Talk Free Week aims to stop negative talk about one's appearance, and encourages women to embrace their beauty and love their body. This year, we partnered up with Bigfish Creative and created an "I Wish You Well" Wall where people could go to Overton Square and put up post-it notes with encouraging messages on it.
